Precast Concrete vs. Chain Link for Security Fences

Diamond shaped wire mesh fence

As a homeowner or business owner, you have a lot of decisions to make about your property. One of the most important ones for many is the type of fence you will use for your security fence.

A security fence protects your home and your family (or your office/warehouse), gives you much-needed privacy and elevates the value of your property. Here’s why a concrete security fence will serve you better than a chain-link fence.

Strength for Security

Chain link fences can be tall and barbed wire can increase the security, but they will always be a little flimsy – even ones that are well made. Additionally, they are essentially metal ladders and very easy to climb over. All you would need to get through a chain-link fence is a heavy-duty pair of wire cutters.

Precast concrete fences come in any height up to 14 feet tall. You will need to follow your local zoning laws, but if the height you want works for them, it should work for us. They are built to be solid pieces of concrete with little to hold on to or climb up. Installation of precast concrete security fences ensures that there will be no gap under the fence either.

During the construction of our precast concrete security fences, we reinforce the concrete with wire mesh and/or steel rebar. Precast concrete is built to last and stand up to whatever is thrown at them, meaning intruders would need a lot more than wire cutters to get to your property.

We can even provide you with the option to embed hooks into the concrete to enable you to attach barbed or razor wire to the top of your precast concrete fence – if security is your number one concern.

Privacy

It’s a fact that thieves are more likely to steal what they can see. Whether you are trying to protect your family’s privacy or trying to protect your commercial properties from potential theft, chain link fences just don’t cut it.

As mentioned, precast concrete security fences are built to be solid pieces of concrete, with no gaps in the fence or below. You can see over, under, or through them. If it’s commercial fencing you are after, the solid build and height up to 14 feet will protect your business from prying eyes.

Aesthetics: Beauty That Lasts

For some, chain link fences – especially ones that have been around for a few years – conjure images of vacant lots, barking dogs, and rust. If that’s not the look you are going for your home or business, you will need to do a lot of maintenance on a chain-link fence to keep it looking nice. For commercial fences, that is another long-term business expense.

Or, you could just go with a precast concrete fence. Precast concrete security fences can have pigment and aggregate added to the concrete prior to pouring to make a long-lasting, colorful, and interesting concrete fence. The security fences can even be made to look like brick, stone, or another custom design – at a fraction of the price of the real thing.

One of the best parts about precast concrete fences is that it will retain that beautiful or interesting look year after year with truly little work on your part. Just an annual inspection and wash is usually all that is needed. Your fence can provide security and be aesthetically pleasing.
